Getting ready for Christmas

It’s only a few weeks until Christmas – doesn’t the time go quickly? Here is a checklist which will hopefully help you get everything in order ready for the big day.

Christmas cards – if you send Christmas cards, now is a good time to make sure your address book is up to date ready for when you begin writing them out. You can also start looking out for some interesting designs – lots are available online and in-store from the likes of Paperchase, Boots and supermarkets.

Presents – make a list of gift recipients you need to buy for and, where possible, add notes about what you could get them. You can then start shopping around for bargains and deals, and will be well prepared for Black Friday discounts if you need them. This way, you will avoid buying things you don’t need.

Decorations – get your decorations out of the loft, sort through them and discard any broken lights or damaged decorations. This means you will be in the best position to start putting your tree up at the beginning of December. You can also take the opportunity to fill in the gaps by shopping around for new decorations, tinsel and other things to brighten up your home.

Food – make a list of all the food you will need for the Christmas period and you can start putting orders together, so that you can approach the festive period stress-free. Shop little and often, and store everything you will need. You don’t want to be running out on Christmas Eve for some last-minute supplies.

Fun! – Finally, remember to leave some time for fun. Christmas is supposed to be a relaxing time – don’t spend the entire period shopping and cooking. Go out for a gingerbread latte, take a walk in the snow, or snuggle up with a Christmas movie.
