If you’re anything like me, the weekend is when you spend most of your money. When you’re not at work, it’s so easy to get distracted by shopping, brunches, days out and other things and before you know it, your money has run out.
However, there are plenty of things you can do that are free, so you can enjoy your weekend without having to spend any of your hard-earned cash.
How about going for a long walk? Walking can be good fun in all weathers – if it’s raining, just put on a raincoat. It’s a great way to see more of your local area and it’s also a fab way to exercise. You can do it by yourself or with friends or family, and a walk can also be a great mood-booster.
If you don’t feel like going out, there are plenty of things you can do at home. Why not snuggle up with a cup of tea and a Netflix series you’ve been meaning to binge-watch for a while? There are lots of great programmes to choose from.
Alternatively, you can have a go at an interesting craft. Try painting, drawing, or stitching, depending on what you have to hand. This can be a great way of passing the time.
Why not visit your local library? Libraries are threatened in these times and visiting one, and showing your support, is a great thing to do. You can borrow books for free, then spend the rest of your weekend reading them.
It might not sound like the most exciting thing in the world, but you could always try tidying up, or having a clearout. Sorting out your stuff can be really therapeutic and you can get a great sense of achievement when you look around at your lovely tidy house. If you pick out things that can go to a charity shop, you can do some good at the same time – you can even try selling your unwanted things on eBay and making a bit of money, meaning that you can spend some of your weekends doing other things!
